American Innovation, American Growth: A vision for a national semiconductor technology center
This white paper lays out a blueprint for a National Semiconductor Technology Center for the United States as called for in the National Defense Authorization Act.
The paper outlines an approach to address a “full-stack” innovation approach – from materials through to applications – that will aid R&D in bridging the “valley of death.” The initiative will look to address technology development broadly as well as startup incubation and skills and workforce development.
The core objective is to ensure the American innovation leads to American business growth and jobs. Mitre Engenuity has helped form The Semiconductor Alliance, which is comprised of individual experts from multiple facets of the US semiconductor ecosystem, including integrated device manufacturers, fabless chip companies, providers of infrastructure, design and manufacturing tools, and technology innovators from industry and academia.
