SEMI launches ChipPath to boost semiconductor career opportunities across the U.S.
To address the growing U.S. demand for semiconductor talent, the National Network for Microelectronics Education (NNME), operated by the SEMI Foundation, has launched ChipPath, an AI-enabled career platform that links individuals directly to opportunities across the semiconductor and microelectronics industry.
With more than 90,000 active listings, ChipPath is already one of the most comprehensive job-matching tools in the sector. Unlike typical job boards, it autonomously gathers live postings from SEMI member companies across the design, manufacturing, automation, materials, and facilities segments.
ChipPath represents a major step in addressing the chronic talent shortage impacting design houses, fabs, and suppliers worldwide. It’s a glimpse into how AI can play a strategic role in workforce development as the U.S. ramps up domestic semiconductor production.
Building the bridge between talent and opportunity
“ChipPath is more than a job board, it’s a bridge to opportunity,” said Shari Liss, Vice President of Workforce Development and Initiatives at SEMI. “It’s a movement to make the semiconductor workforce accessible to all Americans. This platform opens doors for students, veterans, career changers, and seasoned engineers, helping to see themselves in this industry and take real, actionable steps toward building their future in it.”
The new platform aims to close the gap between workforce demand and awareness by helping users explore, prepare, and connect through tailored tools. Its four key components include:
-
Smart resume builder: AI-guided prompts generate professional, industry-aligned resumes highlighting relevant skills and certifications.
-
Career mapping and exploration: Users can visualize career pathways and opportunities across semiconductor disciplines.
-
Training and development resources: Links learners to certificate programs, apprenticeships, and degree pathways offered by NNME partners.
-
Live job openings: Over 90,000 active roles sourced in real time from SEMI member companies.
“For too long, semiconductor careers have been somewhat invisible, seemed out of reach or hard to navigate,” said Michelle Williams, Executive Director of the SEMI Foundation. “ChipPath changes that. It illuminates opportunities, empowers people to see where they fit, and gives them the tools to get there. No gatekeeping, no guesswork.”
Next phase: employer dashboard coming in 2026
The NNME and SEMI Foundation are already working on the next phase — an employer dashboard slated for early 2026. This upgrade will allow companies to define skill priorities, directly connect with candidates, and extract data-driven insights into national workforce trends.
The current platform already runs autonomously, constantly updating to reflect real-time hiring activity. The upcoming employer features will make ChipPath a two-way ecosystem, enabling more strategic engagement between job seekers and companies shaping the semiconductor workforce.
By tying together AI, education, and workforce analytics, SEMI’s initiative underscores how technology can accelerate workforce readiness for the next generation of chip manufacturing and innovation.
