Hyundai Motor Group is preparing to put AI-powered robotics firmly in the spotlight at CES 2026, where it will unveil a group-wide AI Robotics Strategy under the theme “Partnering Human Progress.” A newly released teaser signals a strong focus on human-robot collaboration and next-generation manufacturing.
From strategy to commercialization
Hyundai Motor Group will present details of its AI Robotics Strategy during its Media Day at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas on January 5, 2026. The session, scheduled from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. PST, will be live-streamed on the company’s global YouTube channel.
According to the Group, the strategy is designed to expand AI robotics across its internal value network, with the aim of accelerating commercialization. The emphasis is on combining human-robot collaboration with group-wide technology integration, rather than treating robotics as a standalone technology.
A key pillar of this approach is Hyundai’s Software-Defined Factory (SDF). The company describes SDF as both a manufacturing strategy and a data- and software-driven smart factory concept, intended to increase flexibility and agility across production processes. By embedding AI robotics into this framework, Hyundai is positioning robots as adaptive co-workers within highly automated, software-controlled factories.
The Group also plans to manage the full AI robotics value chain, covering development, learning, training and operations. This includes integrated capabilities spanning robot components, logistics and software, pointing to a tightly coupled hardware-software ecosystem.
New Atlas robot steps onto the CES stage
One of the most anticipated moments at CES 2026 will be the public debut of the new Atlas robot from Boston Dynamics. The next-generation Atlas will appear on stage for the first time, marking a transition from laboratory research to public demonstration.
Hyundai positions the new Atlas as a concrete step toward the commercialization of AI robotics, highlighting its goal of creating safe and adaptable robotic co-workers. The appearance underscores the Group’s broader ambition to turn advanced robotics research into deployable systems for industrial and potentially service environments.
Hands-on robotics experiences
Beyond the Media Day presentation, Hyundai Motor Group will host an immersive exhibition at the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 6 to 9. The booth will feature interactive scenarios showing how AI robotics could be applied in work environments and daily life, alongside a recreated robotics research setting.
Visitors can also expect live demonstrations and hourly presentations of Atlas, Spot and MobED, offering a closer look at how Hyundai envisions AI robotics fitting into future manufacturing and logistics operations.
