Maximum flexibility in minimum space – TEC 3UI & TEC 6UI with 8:1 ultra-wide input range
The TEC 3UI and TEC 6UI DC/DC converter series from Traco Power combine maximum design freedom with minimal space requirements. Both series are isolated DC/DC converters in a compact SIP‑8 plastic package and feature an ultra‑wide 8:1 input voltage range from 9 to 75 VDC. This allows a wide variety of standard bus voltages to be covered with a single module type, significantly reducing the number of variants needed in one application.
The TEC 3UI series delivers 3 watts, while the TEC 6UI series provides 6 watts of output power. This enables a common platform to be used for both low‑power auxiliary supplies and higher‑power partial loads. Both series are designed to seamlessly replace existing 2:1 and 4:1 input converter series without compromising performance or cost efficiency.
With an I/O isolation of 1600 VDC, TEC 3UI and TEC 6UI ensure reliable galvanic isolation in control, measurement, communication and automation applications. Certification according to IEC/EN/ES 62368‑1 simplifies device approval and increases planning security in series projects. Both series are approved for an operating temperature range from –40°C to +80°C; the TEC 3UI additionally operates reliably up to a maximum of +90°C. Operation is possible at altitudes up to 5000 m, making them suitable for demanding installation environments.
To protect the application, all models feature integrated short‑circuit protection, over‑current limitation and undervoltage lockout. A remote ON/OFF function allows convenient switching, for example for sequential power‑up of multiple rails or energy‑optimised standby concepts.
Both series are available with single and dual outputs. TEC 3UI covers 3.3, 5, 12, 15 as well as ±5, ±12 and ±15 VDC [2]. TEC 6UI adds 9 and 25 V and further dual variants such as ±15 VDC [1]. This enables typical supply rails for logic, analogue electronics, sensors, actuators and communication modules to be generated directly from common bus voltages without additional converter stages.
Thanks to the SIP‑8 package, TEC 3UI and TEC 6UI are ideal for space‑constrained applications such as compact controllers, highly integrated I/O modules, DIN‑rail devices, measurement and communication assemblies or embedded systems.
